Ruby Jhunjhunwala
Ruby Jhunjhunwala, one of the country’s early and well known ceramic artists, has devoted her life to the exploration of this age old medium. Trained under the world renowned ceramist Daniel Rhodes at Alfred University, New York, and Sardar Gurcharansinghji, the father of Indian Studio Pottery, Ruby has traveled the length and breadth of the country exploring different styles of pottery prevalent in India. Ruby has worked with several renowned potters, including Mansimran Singji of “Delhi Blue”.
She started with small pottery in her backyard in 1987, with one wheel, a small wood kiln, and two helpers. She experimented with several types of clays, formation techniques, glazes and firing procedures to create products that are contemporary but still retain their studio feel and charm. Today, she is recognized and respected in the ceramic art world.
Her present endeavor is to bring her work within the reach of a wider audience in India. This effort has manifested itself in the form of ADIPA- home to all things earthy, elegant and aesthetic.
